Throughout this unit we worked on identifying stakeholders and how to best tailor our endeavors to attract and persuade those identified. We produced direct mailers for the University of Oklahoma’s Office of Admissions and Recruitment (see below) for the stakeholder we chose to identify.
When completing this project I felt challenged. I have never worked with Photoshop and I had yet to complete many of the online tutorials via Lynda as I was trying to get a grip on InDesign. However, by the end of the project I felt proud of what I had produced. I first came up with a general idea and wanted to target prospective students to the university who had immediate family members attending or who had graduated from OU. I came up with the tagline “Share More Than Just Your DNA.” Although I think this is rather catchy I’m somewhat nervous that in reality it may be too childish to actually be produced on behalf of the university.
In regards to the design I found a stock photo of the the Bizzell Memorial Library on an OU website and the photo of the brother/sister duo is one of my good friends and her real life brother. I think utilizing the real life pair helped to add a sense of authenticity to the work.
I believe that with the text I chose a nice consistent font and placement for each piece was ideal.
Overall, I think I identified an interesting and uncommon target stakeholder to be reached and that in doing so the university would be able to solidify decisions among certain prospective students that can at times perhaps be overlooked or turned away.
