For this assignment we were tasked with setting up a preliminary design for our personal business cards. After watching the provided tutorial I felt confident in my ability to follow the instructions exactly, I can see myself beginning to get the hang of InDesign. However, my keen sense of design, or better yet, lack thereof, is certainly showing its true colors. While I was able to replicate the design technique that was provided I believe that my ability to think outside of the box and express new ideas and techniques was virtually non-existent. I believe that this all goes back to the video we watched on creativity lessons back…Novice designers must wait a very long time for our work to be good because our abilities don’t yet match our interestingly high expectations.
Unfortunately I must also note that I failed at being able to customize my colors and was forced to utilize codes from Canva.com and copy and paste them to the box in InDesign. This is how I got the background rectangular color. Moving forward I believe that I will “play around more” with font styles and design techniques that I master throughout the duration of this course.
