Not going to lie I have had a lot of adjusting to this course, but I am doing my best and learning more than I thought and it’s only the second week! This week we were asked to watch a couple videos about design elements and some other information for the course and then were quizzed on what we watched. I wasn’t too worried about these two quick and shorter assignments and I did well on them as I hoped.
The other assignments like the design blitz and typesetting were the more difficult ones for me so once I read those instructions I was a little more worried. To be honest, with the InDesign assignment I panicked because I am so bad with creative/design programs. I know I reacted the way I did because I have never been great at computer programs like that and I personally don’t think I am savvy and artistic so I felt like I wasn’t going to do a good job. For the Design Blitz post, I was a little confused because I wasn’t aware of all those different elements to design so I had to do a little more research to complete that assignment.
We were also required to play at least three typography games, which I truly enjoyed. I reacted to those with a little surprise because I didn’t do as bad as I thought I would on some, but then others were a little harder because I had never really learned about the different types of fonts and what went well together. But this blog post/ assignment was my favorite this week, along with the newspaper mark up. I felt good about the newspaper assignment because I had learned all those different parts in Writing For Mass Media. I also tested my self on some to see if I remembered.
