Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) does not necessarily have a competitor because it has the same goal as American Diabetes Association, which is to find a cure for diabetes, more specifically Type 1. Although, in terms of comparing JDRF to American Diabetes Association, the looks are very different. JDRF has revamped their image over the years and their new slogan is “Turn Type 1 into Type None”, which is a catchy term. Most of their campaigns are centered around this….

My Organization: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
For my organization, I decided to choose one that is very close to my heart. Some members of my family have Type 1 diabetes, so it has been a reoccurring theme in my life. I have participated in many Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation(JDRF) walks, fundraisers, and galas. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. They wish to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 diabetes. Their job is to fund research to end the…

Being interested in having a career in sports PR, I decided to choose an organization that focuses on sports, specifically at the University of Oklahoma. The organization I chose is Sooner Sports Pad, which is a organization run by Gaylord students. Sooner Sports Pad is a sports show aired on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox […]

Pursuing passion with a purpose
“I don’t want to be directly in the spotlight, but I want to be right next to it.” This is what I told my best friend when he asked me why I was attracted to Public Relations. Reflection
During this past week, I was asked to begin getting into Photoshop and InDesign. After watching these videos we were given an assignment in InDesign to copy one page of a […]
Trying New Things is Fun
Croom referred to this week as “bootcamp,” and now I know why. This week was our introductory lesson in Photoshop and InDesign, and watching the videos felt similar to what I imagine taking a drink out of a fire hose feels like. The most important lesson I learned this week is video tutorials make… Continue reading Trying New Things is Fun
So now that’s over…
This week was design boot camp for me. As part of boot camp, I had to watch about 4 hours of Lynda.com tutorial videos on the inn’s and out’s of Photoshop and InDesign and do the corresponding exercises; identify different sections of a newspaper including the headline, masterhead and jumpline and finally design my own… Continue reading So now that’s over…
Unit 1.3 Reflection
I’m not even gonna lie right now, this week was the hardest yet. I was asked to familiarize myself with both Photoshop and InDesign. I started looking at these videos Sunday and promptly proceeded to log out. The speed with which Justin “walked” us through these videos was mind-blowing. After I gathered my thoughts, I…
JMC 3433 Unit 1.3 Reflection
Well that was terrifying…. This was my first time ever creating something in inDesign. Was it hard? Absolutely. Was it as hard as I originally thought? I won’t say yes, but it would by no means easy for me. We were simply asked to recreate a newsletter/flyer. It took me a lot longer than I…Read more JMC 3433 Unit 1.3 Reflection
