ABOUT ME; My “Professional Portrait”
Over the past three years I have spent at The University of Oklahoma I have found myself changing. Small changes in the way I dress or the type of people I surround myself with. My identity has been evolving into a grown up version of me that society has been forcing me to become. Answering the questions of who I am and what drives me today is totally different than what I would have answered as an 18 year old freshman. I can only appreciate what the past three years has done and will how they will continue to propel me into an even better version of myself.
Me and my family!
I’m originally from Chicago, IL but moved to a suburb outside of Dallas, TX my Junior year of high school. Exciting right? It was an event in my life that may have been the end of the world at the time, but it was something that I am incredibly thankful for now. Living in Texas has brought me many opportunities thorough hobbies I love and not to mention opened my eyes to OU! Going through a huge change in high school made me become adaptable and see the best in situations. My friends and family are my life and I could not live a day without seeing or talking to them. They are my biggest fans, the ones with all the answers (good ones or not so good ones) and the people I need the most.
Here at OU I am a public relations senior. It’s hard to believe that my time in Norman is almost complete. What’s even harder and scarier to believe that my time is the “real world” has almost begun…..I have to beg my parents to not mention the words graduation or last year. I’m seriously taking Taylor Swift’s song Never Grow Up to heart. My time spent over the past four summers have been my favorite summers of my life. I get paid for what I enjoy most and that’s cheerleading. I am a part of UCA staff and we instruct junior high and high school cheer teams that come to our camps. I get to travel around the Southwest and work with amazing people. This job brings me so much joy and I am one of the lucky ones that can say I absolutely love what I do.

Thats me in the front!
UCA is my biggest motivator, not in a sense of getting good grades but in a sense of taking in my surroundings and soaking up as much information as my little brain can. It has taught me to be willing to take chances and try new things. I want to empower as many young women as I can and provide them with the confidence and determination that they can do anything, whether it would be cheer related or not. My dream would be to work in the UCA office and share the amazing things that this company does.
As much cheer talk as i have already done, I must go on to say that this is where disign fits most in my life. One of the most challenging things we have to do as a staff member is design a small routine for our team of the day in 45 mins. Now, this may not seem that difficult to the blind eye, but creating a visual formation, clean transitions, innovative stunt patterns and creative sign work all wrapped in one can test ones brain.
Design work in a digital sense is not my strongest suit I would have to admit. I wish I could say my photos and Instagram collages are top notch but i’ve maxed out at 200 likes….not impressed, but hey at least I try to be cool.
