Analyzing My Organization
Destination Blank
For my PR Publications course we were assigned to choose an organization to represent as we go through our class activities, such as designing business cards, letterheads, newsletters, etc. To make this more personal and worthwhile (even though the practice alone is tremendously worthwhile), I decided to use my own travel blog, Destination Blank.
Before I can really dive into the assignments, it is essential to understand and research my organization (or in my case, create it). The first way to analyze my organization is to answer questions that describe the existing state of Destination Blank. This can be concluded through the following questions:
What is your organization’s mission–the service or product it sells?
This is a travel blogs that provides travel tips and information to its audience.
Who are its main competitors?
The main competitors are other travel blogs, specifically those who are young, female bloggers.
What are your organization’s most dominant attitudes and core values?
The most dominant attitudes of DB include promoting a traveling lifestyle, not just a brand as well as conversing with other travelers and bloggers. Core values include local, organic, unique traveling.
