Analyzing Your Organization
For this post, the 2015 PR Productions class has been tasked with picking an organization and designing a letterhead and a business card. I have chosen the Grand Event Center in McAlester, Oklahoma because the owners are friends of mine, and I already help them produce publications.
- What is your organization’s mission–the service or product it sells?
The Grand’s mission is pretty simple. They want to provide a historic atmosphere for any number of corporate or personal events.
2. Who are its main competitors?
The Grand has direct and indirect competition. Its direct competition comes from the McAlester Expo Center. As the only facility in McAlester that is specifically for events, they get the lions share of events. However, indirectly, the Grand also competes with churches and local civic centers. These venues, although usually not as attractive, offer free or cheap alternatives for event planner.
3. What are your organization’s most dominant attitudes and core values?
The most important thing to the owners is that the expectations of each customer are met and exceeded. They have been successful in many business ventures, and they have done so by offering good quality at a reasonable rate.
