Beaird Memorial Lounge

Growing up in small town Oklahoma, it had always been a dream of mine to attend the University of Oklahoma. Granted I had visited campus several times with my family to attend various sporting events, etc. but I was still blown away when I actually moved in as a freshman. I remember walking around the south oval at night just taking in all of the beautiful architecture and history that this campus has to offer.

It wasn’t until the middle of my freshman year when I finally discovered my favorite study spot: Beaird Memorial Lounge. I was getting coffee in between classes one morning in the Union when I heard someone playing the piano. I followed the sound into this beautiful space that looked like a comfortable living room. Inside, were these huge comfy looking chairs and couches as well as tables and chairs where people could either kill time in between classes or do some homework. I immediately plopped down in one of the chairs and refused to move until my next class two hours later. Even two years later, I seem to always find myself back at this spot whenever I need to knock out some homework or just catch up on some reading.
