Blog Post Summary
Looking back at my work this semester, I was blown away with how much I grew as a designer! One of my favorite projects we did was the “Blitz Design.” I enjoyed this project because we got to learn about typography, dominance, contrast, etc. It was really fun getting to roam around my house and look for design in everyday items! It was also cool looking back at our “newspaper markup” knowing that I created something very similar myself. One way I grew in this class was going from knowing very little about headlines, pull quotes and decks to creating an actual newsletter myself! After reviewing my posts, I saw how much I grew with working with InDesign. From my first business card to my final newsletter, my InDesign skills enhanced tremendously. Looking back, I wasn’t too impressed with my direct mailer. I learned that I did not love working with Photoshop and wish I could have done a littler better job on my final direct mailer. Overall, I am very pleased with my work this semester. I believe that my design skills grew immensely during this class. Before this class, I did not know anything about Photoshop or InDesign. After leaving this class, I am now confident that I could start a job where designing with these programs is a requirement. I feel that I grew as a public relations practitioner this semester because I learned what liked and what I didn’t like about design and writing. I feel that I have way more experience now in the web design field and have grown confidence in both my writing and design skills.
