Bootcamp Reflection

I was so eager for this week because these are skills I have wanted to have for a long time. I would like to think I have a decent eye for design, but that didn’t help me much this week. These programs were tricky. I was asked to follow along with the tutorials to learn all of the basic functions of both Photoshop and InDesign. It is truly amazing to me how much these programs can do. I was also asked to complete a mock newspaper/newsletter front page. I responded pretty well to everything with in Photoshop. I am more familiar with it then InDesign so it served as an exciting reminder of its capabilities. InDesign however, was really frustrating to me. I slowed down the Lynda.com instructor and still struggled to keep up and understand. I think this is pretty evident in my typesetting assignment. No matter how many times I watched certain Lynda.com videos rewinding over and over again I could not seem to make look the way I wanted to. I think I disappointed because I thought it would come more naturally to me, but I am trying and for right now that is what counts.
