Bootcamp Reflection

This week we were put through PR Pubs “design bootcamp”. This seemed a little intimidating to me at first because we were really going to start learning and using programs that I had never really had much experience with: InDesign and PhotoShop.

We learned InDesign in class with our professor talking us through making a postcard for Farmer’s Insurance. This was a little stressful because everyone was frazzled and trying to keep up with what he was saying, but in the end, I feel like I learned a lot from just jumping right in and creating something.

For PhotoShop, we used the Lynda.com tutorials to watch some introductions to the program and then to do some small exercises so that we could gain some hands on experience. At first, this was a little frustrating because I was trying to keep up with what he was saying, but in the end the tutorials were very helpful to me and I feel like I have a good grasp of PhotoShop.

This week was a little overwhelming, but I am so glad that I now have the knowledge and confidence to use both of these programs. While I know I still have a lot more to learn, I am confident that I can use my fundamental skills to keep exploring different things that I can do with these programs. I can’t wait to actually get to use these programs creatively in order to help a client or just make something really cool.
