Bootcamp Reflection

For one of my assignments this week in Public Relations Publications I was asked to watch a number of video tutorials on lynda.com. These tutorials gave overviews of many different tools used in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Indesign. Before I started this assignment I had a fairly open mind. I thought that this assignment would not be too hard but boy was I wrong. After major dedication over the course of two days I was surprised that I was able to complete this assignment.

When I first began watching the videos I was shocked at how long each video actually was. I originally had not blocked out enough time for myself. After starting I soon realized I would not be able to finish all the videos in one sitting, I tend to get distracted easily if I am performing one task for too long. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between my assignment and the videos. There were definitely times where I had to watch a certain step a couple of times before I was able to get it down. Creating text boxes and editing photos was enjoyable for me. I found that the learning that was going on was fun and not something that I found to be miserable. I was surprised at how much I could learn about Photoshop and InDesign in each video.

After watching the videos and completing the tutorials I feel quite proud of myself and the knowledge I gained from this assignment. I was shocked at what a couple of days of dedication can do. Playing around in Photoshop and InDesign is actually enjoyable for me now, I feel like I finally understand what I am doing. I have definitely been through my fair share of trial and error with many different tutorials and Pinterest fails, so you can imagine my excitement when my handwork seemed to pay off. I feel confident in my ability to actually learn from a tutorial after this success.
