Canva Reflection
For this week’s PR publications assignment, I utilized the design application Canva to create a social media campaign in one week for an organization of my choice. In order to fulfill this assignment, I was asked to design a Facebook cover photo, a Facebook post, an Instagram post and a Twitter cover photo.
The organization I chose to center my campaign around is the luxury fashion boutique “Abersons” in Tulsa, OK. I wanted to work with Abersons as a client because I admire their design aesthetic and I relate well to fashion publication design. Therefore, in order to contextualize my campaign, I created a mock event that showcased “featured designer” Reed Krakoff and invited customers to an exclusive store preview of the S/S 15 handbag collection.
Below are the finished products for the Facebook cover photo, Facebook post, Instagram post and twitter cover, respectively.
As a design platform, I felt that Canva allowed me to create professional pieces within a limited time frame. I appreciated that the the application allowed users to upload their own photos in order to avoid paying for Canva’s sponsored images. On the other hand, however, I did feel more creatively constrained within the parameters of Canva, specifically regarding the treatment of images and photos. Overall, though, my experience with Canva was positive, and it is definitely a tool that I will utilize within high pressure and time deficient situations.
Until next time,
S
