Ch 1 of Designing for Emotion

Agree: I agree with the statement “preserving the human touch and showing ourselves in our work isn’t optional,” (Walter. Kindle Locations 75-76). I agree because I believe that as an artist or anyone who has original work needs to be able to stand out. Your name becomes a brand and an image when vying for potential jobs or clients in the PR industry. There is no sense in a client paying you for your work and originality when your competitor is offering them the same thing, but for less. Your work needs to be unique and recognizable or it will be forgotten and that is potential for a disappointed or loss of a client.

Disagree: I do not necessarily disagree, but I’m not sure if I am 100% on board with this statement, “Emotional design isn’t just about copy, photos, or design style: it’s a different way to think about how you communicate,” (A. Walter. Kindle Locations 247-248). I say that I do not know how I feel about it because sometimes I feel that emotions can over come a design and take it in a completely different direction than the original intention. The emotion that the designer is trying to portray is not always well received by the audience also.
