Chapter 11: Reports and Proposals

Chapter 11 discusses reports and proposals. My three takeaways were pretty simple but I think it shouldn’t be looked past because sometimes people can make things way more difficult than they really are.

Proposals are created to inform clients in a persuasive way with an in-depth assessment of a campaign or project about the results of public opinion studies and other research efforts. A proposals main effort is to convince the readers to take a specific action.

Annual reports study the financial performance and the success an organization has had in a year-span. (Hints: ANNUAL). New Business Proposals are used to show their credentials to prospective clients and also explains how they can help their client in the future of their own business.

I found this entire chapter to be useful to my professional goals. The reason for that is because the chapter gives a lot of tips and standards to use while writing reports and proposals. As a professional you want to be able to prepare the documents correctly so people will read them in the first place.

One thing that made me think about public relations writing in a new way is proposals can serve the purpose to helping your organization succeed in getting what is wants. For example, nonprofits choose grant proposals to send to corporations and foundations. Proposals help make their case when a persuasive writing style is used.

The topic that I found to be most useful to my current writing is to write reports in a simply, brevity and clarity language. Like I mentioned before sometimes I can make things a lot more difficult than they really are when in reality simple is better!
