Chapter 2
For the next chapter of designing for emotion we, as a class, were told to summarize one thing that we agreed with and one thing that we disagreed with. This should be fairly easy for me because I am extremely opinionated when I am reading things.
Well starting off on a good note, I would definitely agree with the author’s ideas about contrast. The way she explains that contrast is how our brain decides what is good and bad for us is exceptionally well spoken. Especially when it comes to designing, contrast keeps consumers actively interested, or uninterested. They way she used Tumbler as an example, and how not having a home page and just going straight to the content, it makes a lot of sense.
The one thing that I definitely do not agree with, is her opinions on aesthetics, I think that she is judging books by their covers. I think that if people are successful and have qualifications for a certain position, most people will look past the outer appearances. Especially in todays society, if someone comes across a website that is unappealing, but it works properly, and overcomes a persons perceptions, I believe people would stay on the site. To me, getting information is more important than the way something is perceived.
