Chapter 7 – Designing for Emotion
In the last chapter of Designing for Emotion, I found a lot of very relevant advice for a lot of questions I’ve had throughout the semester concerning the life of a graphic designer. One of the questions I’ve always had was how to convince someone your design experience trumps their minuscule vision. In other words, a lot of times a client or organization you end up working for will want some very specific design or logo, but, in actuality, you know that your design will look better.
Chapter 7 solves this quandary by giving a lot of solid advice to rookie designers. The chapter suggests that even a designer with little experience should have confidence in their abilities and stand firm in their decisions rather than let the negative criticism of others take over. While constructive criticism is often a wonderful tool to utilize, it can sometimes dictate and ruin what you have created.
