Communications Strategy

In my PR Publications course, we are going to be designing a business card and letter head for an organization of our choice. I chose Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children  because I was a Junior Volunteer for 5 summers. I had the opportunity to work in all areas of the hospital, creating a deep love for TSRHC, the employees, and most importantly, the children. In this specific post, I am creating a prototype of the publics I want to reach and (I didn’t say this), but how I want them to feel when the look at the card.

Primarily, I will be using images to drive certain publics when they look at the card. Parents, patients, and all children need to know that Scottish Rite is a safe and positive environment for their children to get healthy. Most importantly, the children need to know that they are not going through this process alone.  I plan to convey this message by the image I placed on the back of card of the toddler smiling so brightly in his “big boy” prosthetic legs. The progression of his legs is inspiring and will make anyones heart fill with joy.

When walking down the street, you may ask someone, “are you familiar with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children?” and they may reply, “Oh yeah, that’s the place with all the Popcorn, right?” Well, that answer is not entirely wrong.  It IS the place with all the popcorn, but so much more than just that. Upon entering the hospital, you are greeted with a genuine smile. You simply feel at home. The images and small amount of text on the card need to show without telling the amount lives changed on a daily basis. It needs to give whoever may come across it a piece of the hospital without being there.
