Competitor Analysis

Continuing from my last post, this is part II of the research phase for the organization I picked for my design project. Thus far, I have identified my organization’s mission, core values, and competitors. In this post, I am going to go in depth with a competitor analysis to compare and contrast the many public relations strategies that are being used by Richardson Insurance Agency and its competitors. First thing I am going to do is answer two questions that are in The Analysis-Synthesis Bridge Model to help guide my analysis.

  1. How does your organization differ from its competitors? Richardson Insurance differs from its competitors by being one of the oldest insurance agencies around town. In 1972, Joe Richardson opened up the agency in the Del City. Today, Richardson Insurance has a new building in Choctaw, Oklahoma and is family owned and operated. Its competitors in the area are relativity newly established agencies.
  2. How should your organization’s image and message differ from its competitors? The Richardson Agency should play to its strengths. Being located in a small town, it needs to build on their image of being a long time establishment. Locals like a business they can count on to be there for them (especially an insurance agency). The agency should also look into updating their image as a growing agency. It needs to keep up with the times and be modern about their messages and image. They need to let their customers know that they are changing with the world and using updated technology.
