Competitor Analysis

Before getting started on our first big project in PR pubs, we first need to do some research and conduct a competitor analysis to see how competitors are different from our organizations. If you read my last post, then you know that the organization I’m creating for doesn’t actually exist yet.

When I was in high school I started having this thought that I could open my own business one day because my Spanish teacher had started her own business. So, my “organization” is called Native, which is a coffee and gift shop that I hope to open one day.

Our competitors would be businesses from big name coffee shops like Starbucks to other small businesses like Elemental Coffee, Cuppies & Joe, Crimson & Whipped Cream, and Gray Owl Coffee. Based on my competitor analysis (found here), these businesses don’t utilize publications as a marketing tool and other traditional methods with Starbucks being the obvious exception. For the most part, it’s the store fronts themselves that keep people coming back. The major difference between these businesses and Native would be that Native is all about Oklahoma and keeping it local as much as possible. No other shop really takes that stance.

In my designs throughout this semester, I can capitalize on that characteristic that is unique to Native.
