Competitor Analysis

The Odyssey’s website is different from that of BuzzFeed and Elite Daily in both looks and organization. The homepage of The Odyssey is very sleek and clean looking with mainly white and black, while BuzzFeed’s is very messy looking with bold colors. Elite Daily is somewhat clean looking, but still has a lot of content on it’s homepage. The Odyssey is organized with 9 different categories, while BuzzFeed has more than 30. Elite Daily has 12 categories, but they also have other types of pages such as “Change Our World” and “Love Hurts.”

What really makes The Odyssey different from its competitors is that the majority of the articles are focused towards college students, and therefore choose topics that they will be interested in. While BuzzFeed and Elite Daily do this as well, they also have articles and videos that are written like news stories. The Odyssey is more about producing fun and interesting articles, and when it wants to talk about something news-related, does it in a unique and interesting way.

To see a comparison of BuzzFeed and Elite Daily from The Odyssey, I have created a Pinterest board to show the differences in appearance and organization. Click on the link below to view it.
