Competitor Analysis

In my last post I shared that I had chosen to research the City Rescue Mission, a shelter and resource facility for the homeless communities of Oklahoma City. After conducting research, I will design a business card for the organization.

Part of the research on this organization included looking at the organization’s competitors. Because homelessness seems to be a growing problem in the Oklahoma City-metro area, there are several organizations that offer services similar to those that are offered through the City Rescue Mission. Some of the more well-known nonprofits in the area that help the homeless include the Salvation Army and Jesus House.

The thing that sets the City Rescue Mission apart from other nonprofits who also serve the homeless is that it offers a wider range of services to the homeless. For example, their “Bridge to Life” program is a 10 month recovery program that helps residents to overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol. Other nonprofits offer similar services but they are not as extensive as the one offered by the City Rescue Mission. In addition, this program and others like it are able to reach more people because City Rescue Mission’s budget is more than double the budgets of the smaller nonprofits.

As a result, the City Rescue Mission must be able to provide services to a larger and more diverse public with diverse backgrounds. The City Rescue Mission must ensure that its communication emphasizes the services that it provides, and must do so in a way that appeals to people of different ages, cultures, religious backgrounds, and genders.
