Competitor Analysis
As a continuing part of my PR publication class assignment to create a business card and letterhead, I had to research further into my chosen organization and its competitors.
(For background on this, click here)
Make-A-Wish differs from its competitors in many ways. It is an extremely well-known nonprofit and is arguably the most well-known wish granting organization in the world. It completes more wishes than the Kids Wish Network ‘competitor.’ It differs from ACS and LLS by being an organization with a completely different mission statement and purpose.
Make-A-Wish is a wish granting organization that grants wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses. This can sometimes be construed by the media or those who discuss the organization. Not all diseases are life-threatening and some kids may not qualify. For this reason, Make-A-Wish has to be careful in how it displays its image and message. Different wish granting organizations may accept different conditions for wishes, which is why the different competitors need to have different messages.
