Defining the Stakeholder

In class this week we will be creating two mailers for the University of Oklahoma Recruitment Services. The first step is to define a stakeholder for one of the mailers and describe the possible types of messages that can be communicated to them.

One of the main stakeholders for Recruitment Services is prospective students. To be more specific, I am planning on targeting prospective undergraduate students interested in studying journalism. These students have family members who are OU alumni and, therefore, are heavily influenced by them. They also have leadership qualities and are highly involved in high school organizations, meaning they are likely to be involved in college as well.

Because these students know that they want to study journalism I will emphasize the fact that Gaylord College has been ranked a top ten journalism program in the nation by RTDNA. I will also discuss the numerous ways to get involved in Gaylord such as organizations, clubs and study abroad. Furthermore, I will mention the five majors that Gaylord offers in case, as many students are, they are unaware that it offers more than just journalism.

Even though Gaylord is a top ten journalism program, there are many other good journalism schools in the country that are targeting these students as well. With these messages I intend to show that OU and Gaylord are unique and where these students belong.
