Design Blitz!
When learning about design elements, I realized how important the details are. The assignment I was given was to explore my own campus and find these elements in everyday life.
First, I found minimalism. In print, minimalism is used to make sure the message is clear without distractions. In nature, I found this bare tree that without the leaves you can see the core of the tree and it’s branches.
Next I found unity. Unity in design is making sure everything comes together to present the same message. I found this bike rack that represents unity in the sense that a group of objects are together representing the same biking community on campus.
Next I found rhythm. Rhythm is using themes in a way that makes the message flow easily and understandably. This gate presents a similar concept by using different metals and designs to make a symmetrical movement.
Next I found color. Color pallet in design is key to making a clean look and to accentuate the copy and images you’d like to showcase. I found these books together in the old section of the library and amongst all the other books whose color has dulled, these shown through.
Last I found typography. Font in a message is important to make sure it is readable, clear, but eye-grabbing. In this old magazine I believed they used font appropriately. There are a few different types, but they all match nicely and it still looks clean.
Design elements can be seen in things other than advertisements. You just have to look around.
