Design Blitz

For this Design Blitz Alexis Terrill, aka @drpancake, and I took a stroll through OU’s campus in search of objects that fit five of the Design Blitz categories. The five I chose were color, symbol, typography, balance, and minimalism.

Color

I chose this fire hydrant as my example of color, due to the contrast of the red and white against the green grass. This photo shows how important it is for the colors of the object and the backdrop to contrast each other in order to have a clear view of the main object.

Symbol
Design Blitz
This image of the OU flag on the light pole is an example of symbol, because whenever people see the OU logo they know that it represents the University of Oklahoma. It is a symbol that represents the university, students, and quality education as a whole.

Typography

Design Blitz
For my example of typography, I chose this deep and meaningful piece of writing creating by someone on the South Oval. The text describes the location of where a squirrel had been, I’m assuming just in case someone cared enough to know. RIP, OU squirrel.

Balance

Design Blitz
For balance, I chose to take a picture of this stack of bricks. They take up the whole shot, and has a focal point towards the center of the very top brick on the right, as well as the lone brick on the left that is balanced just enough to keep from falling.

Minimalism

Design Blitz
I took this photo of an empty bookshelf in the Bizzell stacks as my example of minimalism. It is a good example due to the plain white background, the simple shelves and the fact it has no books on it.

These are my five examples for the Design Blitz. Hope you enjoyed it.
