Design Blitz
Design makes the world go round. I mean, it really does. If creativity wasn’t freely expressed through design, everything would appear the same – and that’s just boring. Below are a few examples of the design elements I’ve enjoyed learning about.
Balance
Although these pieces do not create a perfect, symmetrical balance, each piece of wall art adds to the overall balance. The pieces of decor alone have their own design elements. Together, they create a balance to represent an overall design.
Color
I love color! This picture was taken on a trip to NYC a few years ago. As most designs with color do, it caught my eye immediately. Color literally brightens a design and brings a completely different design to life.
Typography
Typography is a powerful element. Typography has the ability to change a design’s entirety. With a more traditional, san serif font, a design may appear more simple or minimal. While in this design, the typography used is a serif script font, which creates a more elegant design.
Minimalism
Minimalism utilizes the white space in a design. This piece of wall decor did so by utilizing the shape of the symbol to it’s advantage. It doesn’t need anything else added because the symbol is the design.
Symbols
Symbols are neat. I love symbols because they can speak 1,000 words without even saying one.
