Design Blitz

After receiving this assignment, I all of a sudden started seeing all of the different design principles in my everyday life. Most of these examples came straight out of my room, which goes to show how design is a part of everyone’s life in a very intimate way.

Color

This is a print that is hanging in my room that I just love because of the vibrant color of the flower. It brings the focus to the flower in the print and your eye is really drawn to the center. I also like the way it contrasts from the dark background and white lettering.

Contrast

This is another print that is hanging on my wall that I think depicts the contrast design principle. I like how the neon ink contrasts with the dark black background and makes the design really pop.

Unity

This is the gallery wall above my bed. I think that it really portrays unity as a design principle because of the proximity of all of the different pieces. You can tell they are all supposed to be one design because of the way they are placed on the wall together and unified.

Typography

 This print has a lot of different types going on. The main focus of this print, however, is supposed to be the quote, so I think that having all of the different fonts come together makes for good design. I also like how the fonts are so different, but they seem to compliment each other well.

Symbols

This is a picture of my laptop, which I have decorated with stickers that I have acquired from different places. I think that each sticker is a symbol of something or somewhere that is a big part of my life. Just by looking at the different stickers individually, the design is meant to be an interesting symbol that gives my laptop some personality.
