Design Blitz
In lesson 1.2 we learned about the basic design concepts and were asked to take pictures that represented some of the concepts we learned to further our understanding.
This first image represents the concept of “Metaphors/Symbols” because of the Pantene logo. This brands logo is very well known because of the type and design it portrays. This logo is instantly recognizable and has been around for quite some time. If someone where to see this logo not on a shampoo bottle they would still probably recognize it and know what type of product it is.
The second image is a picture of my lululemon bag. This represents the usage of “Typography.” Lululemon uses different words, fonts, and sizes that are shown on all of their merchandise bags. These bags are unique in the way that they show different brand statements that are true to the company. Each bag has different words and statements which makes them interesting to read and makes you want to buy their products.
This third image is a picture of a pillow for my bed. I love the design on this pillow because it is different and has a distinct pattern throughout. This represents the concept of “Balance.” The design is shown in a repeating pattern on the pillow and with the same colors being used.
This is an image hanging on the wall in my room. It is one of my favorite design elements of my room. This shows the use of “Minimal/ Use of Space.” The XOXO is shown in white surrounded by gold glitter. Although there are no words the phrase stands out among the glitter and catches your eye. The white that is used stands out on the blank space behind it.
This last picture is of an ad I saw in a magazine for Roxy’s Ice Cream in Oklahoma City. This ad really caught my eye because of the use of color and obviously the look of it. I think this is a good representation of “Color.” The use of the bright pink and yellow in this ad draws people’s attention to it. This is a great representation of an ice cream place wanting to attract customers by the use of color and the picture of the ice cream.
