Design Blitz
By Christy Montenegro
For this blog post, I’m jumping right into the assignment and saving more life stories for later.
Balance
The picture below is an article from Wedding Ideas of my friend’s wedding in September 2015. I found this to be a great example of symmetrical balance because you can easily see how the page has been split in 3 even parts.
Part 1- top picture
Part 2- text box
Part 3- bottom pictures
Minimalism
What better example of minimalism than Apple products? Words aren’t necessary, the apple speaks for itself.
Color
Red= Valentines Day
It’s obvious the color selection of this issue is intended for the month of February. A bit ironic they are “Your healthy food experts” but the front cover has huge, delicious looking chocolate hearts. I’m sure they’re organic.
Typography
I took a picture of these flyers to be able to compare them next to each other. The top flyer is simple, easily readable and more organized. The bottom flyer, simply put, is all over the place. It’s way too busy and has too many shades of blue that cause it to not read easily.
Form/function/message
This flyer from Walmart is clean, organized and to the point. The pop of color from the berries and their position on the flyer, draw you in. The simple color selection of the text makes it look more attractive and simple to read.
Now I feel motivated to digest every billboard, brochure and flyer I come accross. Surely that’ll go away after I do my PR Research assignment next. Haha!
XOXO
Christy
