Balance
After learning about balance I realized this is one of my favorite techniques to use while taking pictures. This is a photo I took while in Mexico last week. I did my best to frame the tree in the middle of the picture to create a symmetrical balance. I placed an even amount of space around all sides so the tree would remain the main focal point.
The second picture is another example of balance. The image has an even amount of visual weight. The reflection of the bridge off the water helps create a sense of harmony and balance.
Color
I took this picture in a parking lot on campus one October morning. The dark pavement and gray sky contrasts well with the autumn colors. The gloomy day brings out the saturated colors of the leaves and creates a vibrant subject.
Dominance
This is another picture I took while in Cabo. I should of decreased the depth of field more than I did. Since the swam is the bigger object out the two it kind of takes away from the intended dominant object. On another note, I do believe the viewer’s eyes end up focusing directly on the GoPro.
Rhythm
This is a picture I took on Montecristo’s golf course. The rhythm here is the cart path that goes up and down as it weaves from left to right.
Here is another example of rhythm. I took this picture in Scottsdale, Arizona. The palm trees create a repetition of similar elements in a given space.
Minimalist
This is a picture I took of my brother-in-law while he was golfing. There is a lot of open space and simplicity along with a lone subject. I do wish the main focal point had only one solid background color behind it.
