There were two good things that I got out of the reading this week.

Anticipation

First, I like what Walter had to say about anticipation. Companies need to do a good (in a lot of cases better) job of building anticipation. Apple is really good at it, but a lot of companies think putting their product on a shelf is going to sell it. If I am going to spend my money, I would like to be wooed a little bit. I think building anticipation helps the “wooing” process.

Second, the comparison between how Twitter changes their site and how Facebook changed their site was interesting. More specifically, how Facebook and Twitter each informed their constituents was very interesting. The “may” vs. “must” hypothesis seems to be right on track with what I have learned about online customers wanting to be part of the conversation not just a benefactor of the results of the conversation.
