Designing for Emotion
Instead of focusing on one last chapter for the book, I thought it would be a good idea to just do a general post of what I’ve read in the few chapters we read.
Overall, I thought this was a very interesting book, from what I studied. As I stated in my previous posts, the author really did a great job describing the emotion that goes into the creating of our works and the mindset that goes into each and every decision. I actually found the last chapter we read to be the most fascinating, since it covered the reasons behind the designs we see on our favorite social media websites. It was described that the designers for Twitter, Facebook, etc. are taking risks in their updated site looks; essentially doing what they believe is the most efficient and personal use of their space. I found that to be fascinating.
In the end, I generally agreed with the overall message of the book, that emotion plays an enormous role our personal design and creation. The author definitely sees the role in a much more weight in those decisions than I believe I ever will, but I really did enjoy the thought that went into these theories.
