Designing for Emotion

For chapter 2 in Designing for Emotion, I enjoyed reading about the importance of contrast in design specifically related to a user interface. I found it interesting how both visual and cognitive contrast can be used to attract an audience. Contrast is used to either guide the user or shape audience perceptions. It is also important to remember that the more memorable a brand is then the more they set themselves apart form their competition.

Although the section on contrast in regard to user interface focused on the design, it mentioned that functionality is more important. I agree that a site can look great and aesthetically pleasing, but if the functionality is off then I would no longer want to explore sites content. I couldn’t really find anything that  could disagree with through out chapter. Overall, I found it very interesting because I like how it taps into psychology and provides specific examples.
