Designing for Emotion
In “Designing for Emotion,” I found the first chapter about emotional design very interesting. As I was reading I found in the book that it talked about the web connecting people emotionally. While the book touched on the upsides and downfalls of the progression, I disagree entirely with this idea. While others tend to strongly agree with the idea of emotional connections being made through the web, I don’t think that’s the case at all. I think the web can definitely connect people, but I don’t think emotional connections happen.
Another thing I found interesting in this chapter was the mention of emotional experiences making an imprint on our long-term memory. This is something I completely agree with. I think that as the web has progressed, websites have been aimed more at our emotions, with the use of colors, fonts, style, etc. I think this factor makes one brand stand a part from another and puts a lasting memory and feeling into our brain about that particular brand.
