Designing for Emotion CH. 5
“You’d trust a bodyguard in a perfectly-pressed black Armani suit more than a guy in cut-off jeans and a ripped Grateful Dead t-shirt, wouldn’t you? Appearance can greatly influence perceptions, and we carry that mental model with us when sizing up a website.”
The statement above from chapter 5 discusses the trust we build with a brand by its’ appearance. The information that we visually see is how we perceive the brand and our decision process on how much trust we will give. If the website appeals to us and seems trustworthy, we will trust our gut instinct and follow through. If the website seems sketchy, we will most likely try to find a different alternative.
I can relate this to my job because if we need to be able to show clients that we’re a trustworthy company to go into their homes and complete a remodel. If they don’t build trust with us and get a good vibe from the get go, the relationship won’t go far very far.
I couldn’t find anything I didn’t agree with in this chapter because I agree with everything the author mentioned.
