Designing for Emotion: Chapter 1

This week our assignment for PR Pubs was different. Instead of asking to create a project and write a blog post about it we were asked to read a chapter in our book and discuss it. I am not the biggest reader but I did actually enjoy reading this chapter.

What is one thing in Chapter 1 that you agree with?

During this chapter it obviously talked a lot about emotion. I really liked the part where the author discussed how  emotional impact makes a lasting long term-memory. I agree with the statement when he said that emotion and memory are so closely associated together because its what keeps us alive. Like when we are born we make an emotional bond with our parents. I think it is really smart for website to emotionally target their users and make a lasting impression on them with their brand so they will want to use it again.

 

What is one thing in Chapter 1 that you disagree with?

I think when it comes to designing websites, it is important to connect with your audience emotionally and cater to there need through the websites designs. But I think it is important to not make the website overly personal because sometime things can come off as unprofessional. I think there is a balance between emotionally connecting and still being professional.
