Designing for Emotion – Chapter 1
The textbook Designing for Emotion by Aarron Walter is the required textbook for my Public Relations Publications class. This week, we were asked to read the first chapter. To be honest, I was not looking forward to reading about design because I thought design would best be learned from experience. However, after reading the first chapter, I am impressed with what I learned.
I thought the analysis of design for emotion was so intriguing. The examples of the different companies were interesting to think about, seeing that I never look into the details of the company’s customer base.
I agree with the idea that the world is changing and that design is much easier to come by in a template. However, the quality work comes from the hours spent to make a creative website or meaningful advertisement. On the other hand, I did not agree with the idea that emotion can sometimes work in favor if valued above quality of production. I think that it is always important to provide for the customer the best possible work but to also include an intense emotional connection to keep the people coming back.
