Designing for Emotion: Chapter 2
After completing the direct mailer draft for our second stakeholder, we were asked to read chapter 2 of Designing for Emotion and write a response.
I liked this chapter because it made me think about how designs really do affect my human emotions. For example, one thing I agree with from the second chapter was how people have a tendency for looking at an object and really appreciating its beauty. I agree with this 100 percent, and know that I also have this tendency. For instance, when I visit museums, I definitely notice natural beauty. It is easy for humans to appreciate the beauty in paintings, which means they can also affect our emotions.
One thing I didn’t agree with from this chapter was to copy or “mimic” the designs in our world. Of course, right now I will get inspired by other people’s ideas or designs, but I feel like I should definitely use my own work to an extent. I think that using your own creativity is important in designing!
