Designing for Emotion – Chapter 2
Designing for Emotion is book that is required for my public relations publications class. This book provides a look into the behind the scenes of the design industry and typical reactions of humans.
For chapter 2, the author talked about designing for humans. This was interesting because all design is for humans, and it was intriguing to realize that it is important to alter the design based on natural tendencies.
I agree that design for humans is important because of the demand of the industry. Additionally, I agree that people are either interested or uninterested based on the initial look, which is why it is important to care about the look. On the other hand, I disagree with the person that claims it’s all about what is inside and not about the look. As the book was saying, it would not be appropriate to show up to an interview in pajamas.
Overall, I thought the idea of the chapter was beneficial and especially the comparison to Apple. Apple has successfully marketed their brand and designed to please the human mind. it is a great example to learn from for that reason – it is easy to understand.
