Designing for Emotion – Chapter 3

Chapter 3 of Designing for Emotion was assigned for me to read this week in my public relations publications class. The book so far has been broad but interesting. This chapter took a specific approach of personality in design.

I enjoyed chapter 3 because it depicted examples of design and its interaction with people through a computer screen.

I agree with the idea that personality of the design either attracts or detracts people from a website, graphic, publication etc. Personally, when I go to a website, the immediate interface intrigues me or bores me. I also agree that there can be too much personality, which overwhelms a user.

I disagree with some of the examples of creative personality. I think that it is important for the design to be out of the box and contain personality; however, the scattering of some designs used as examples in the book overwhelmed and confused me.
