Designing for Emotion Chapter 3
One thing in Chapter 3 of Designing for Emotion that I agreed with was on page 28 in the opening paragraph, “Through our personalities, we express the entire gamut of human emotion. Personality is the mysterious force that attracts us the certain people and repels us from others.” I think that the author did an excellent job explaining how personality relates to human emotion and how personality connects with design. Every single individual has a unique and different personality that sets them apart from others. I think personalities are so important because when personalities connect between two people, relationships are formed and bonds are made. We all forming connections and friendships through attracting personalities, as well as distance ourselves from personalities that we do not mesh with.
One thing that I did not agree with was on page 45, “Personalities clash, and in the case of businesses, it can actually be a good thing.” I do not think that I would ever want to be involved with any type of business deal or company that my personality was not the right fit with my coworkers. I also do not think it would ever be a good thing to work for someone who did not like my personality because they may not treat me the same as my coworkers. In order to love your job, you need to also love the people you work with and connect with them. You need attracting personalities to establish this connection.
