Designing for Emotion – Chapter 3
This chapter was all about PERSONALITY
Everyone has a personality. That is a huge part of what makes someone unique!
The chapter states, “Personalities foster friendships and serve as the platform for emotional connections.” When you meet someone new you don’t think, “Wow their personality is connecting with mine” or “We are starting a relationship right now” – it just happens naturally without thought.
I agree and disagree with this statement – “Keep in mind that when you emphasize personality in the user experience, some people won’t like it. That’s okay, though. Personalities clash, and in the case of businesses, it can actually be a good thing. If people don’t understand your personality, chances are they’re not the right customer for you, and you’re actually saving yourself future customer- relations problems.”
I think the personality in design is crucial but you also need to think about your target audience. It’s not all about you. If your design is too bold and in your face then you won’t attract anyone. I think there is a fine line- don’t cross it.
