Designing for Emotion – Chapter 3

This past week in my PR pubs class we were asked to read Chapter 3 of Designing for Emotion. There was one thing that I did agree with and one thing that I didn’t agree with in regards to personality. They are both actually the same.

I agreed that personality pulls people together and has the ability to teach people all types of new things. I believe that personality can really draw people together to tell a common story. However, there is a trade off when it comes to telling stories through design.

I didn’t agree that personality will tell the same message to everyone. It is true that people can something through another perspective, but I think that excuse can sometimes mask the idea that just because it says something to you it will say the same thing to someone else. Graphic design is an art and people have many different views on the personality of art pieces. It is ok for this to happen, but you must be clear in your overarching message.
