Designing for Emotion: Chapter 3 Review

Hello again!

This week, we have been tasked with reviewing another chapter of Designing for Emotion in my PR Publications class.

So here goes!

This chapter dealt with the use and function of personality in design – an interesting concept.  I am a bit skeptical about his analogy of the baby-face bias in the Volkswagen Beetle, but the results seem to back up his theory.  The other part of this chapter that I had trouble accepting at face value was the successfulness of the carbonmade.com website.  To me, it just seems too polar opposite to have such menial app look and behave in such a fantasy, gimmicky design.

There were some great parts of this chapter though!  I loved the whole outline of a design persona!  I think that when I create a personal portfolio website that (if I have time) I will attempt to plot out my personal design persona and then attempt to design my portfolio to accentuate and reflect my persona!

Until next time!
