Designing for Emotion- Chapter 4
In chapter four for Designing for Emotion the author lays a foundation for this chapter on how it coincides with the previous chapters.
Later in the chapter the author mentions how there is no formula to provoking mental engagement, but there are common strategies such as surprise, delight, anticipation, elevating perceived status, and limiting access to elicit a feeling of exclusivity that can be effective in targeting your audience. I also believe that a company has gain respect within its audience.
One point that I agree/disagree with in this chapter is when the author mentions how some people swear up and down that a book is always better than the movie. Well, in my opinion I love reading a book before its movie is released because my mind isn’t tainted with images of abnormal super attractive superstars as I’m reading. I can be the protagonist or antagonist in the book. I can live in eras that have long past or are forthcoming, and in that aspect the author is the artist/ designer designing for emotion and provoking emotional engagement.
