Designing for Emotion – Chapter 4
In PR Publications this week we were asked to start on our 4th design project and read the 4th chapter in Designing for Emotion, Emotional Engagement.
I agreed with what the chapter said about Twitter and change…
“Twitter did something particularly interesting with the release. Rather than simply forcing people to switch to the new interface when they were selected, they gave everyone the option to stick with the old design if they wanted to. Giving users the power to choose changes the tone of their response. When forced to change, people often react negatively. Allow people to change on their own schedule, and you empower them, diffusing animosity. Twitter’s rival, Facebook, has had much less success in releasing interface revisions, because they force users to change on Facebook’s schedule.”
This is so true with all updates. Let the user adapt to it when they want don’t throw it at us and expect us to like it right off the bat with no other option.
This MailChimp website has got to stop this^^^
That is SO creepy. Even though the haircut thing was just a coincidence its still scary! I am not a fan.
