Designing for Emotion: Chapter 5

This week we had to freedom to chose which chapter we read in Designing for Emotion, so I decided to just continue reading where we last left off.

Chapter 5 is titled, Overcoming Obstacles. In this chapter Walters talks about how the public will always go with their gut instinct and often times we do not trust brands that we are not familiar with. I agree with this because of how emotions are linked to different colors and designs that are used in brands. For example, many food companies use the color red because it initiates hunger. Someone would be more likely to trust this brand if they were unfamiliar with it because of the emotion linked to it. The same goes with the organization or cleanliness of a website. Someone is more likely to stay on a website if it is easy to navigate and if it is easy on the eye.
