Designing for Emotion Chapter 7

Chapter 7 of Designing for emotion talks about risk reward. It gave examples of creators who took risks in their design process/campaigns and how they paid off.

I do agree that taking a risk is essential in helping a brand/company/movement grow. It’s impossible to reach a larger audience or make a change without taking risks and doing something different.

However, I don’t agree that a negative emotional response is better than indifference from your audience. If the project is something that the company truly believes in and believes their audience will like, I think it’s worth the risk. But I wouldn’t say that making a change just for the shock value or to follow a trend is worth the negative feedback.
