Designing for Emotion Chapter 7: “Risk & Reward”

One that I agreed with in Chapter 7 of Designing for Emotion was on page 82, “Not every customer is right for your business.” I completely agree with this because every individual is unique, and has a different sense of style and taste for products. I may completely love a product that my friend hates. We need to accept this when we are thinking about customers that are right for our own business. As long as you have done everything in your power to make your product great, the producer needs to realize that maybe the customer just has different taste in product design and should find a different product elsewhere.

Something that I disagreed with in Chapter 7 was on page 82, “If people complain about how your product, service, or brand are unlike your competitors’, then you’re doing something right.” I think that when consumers are complaining about a product (even if it is something minor), then the producer has not done their job excellently for the customers that they know would benefit from using your product. All producers should aim for excellence within their products, so nobody has room to complain. When consumers complain, that means you are not finished with your product yet.
